This acoustic fretless bass guitar is based on the Tinozza model, designed by RM Mottola, and mimics the sound of an upright bass more than most instruments of this type. It is very loud acoustically, with a fat, low end. It also comes with an internal pickup for amplification.
The “upright bass sound” is due in part to the large body size, and the use of upright bass strings. As upright strings are longer than regular bass strings, the strings are fed through the holes you see across the bottom of the instrument. There are solid mahogany blocks secured within the instrument that the string ends lodge into. They are offset to the sides of the bridge in order to get the required 15 degree break angle needed for strings of this type.
